Speed Keys
If you prefer to use the keyboard in The CourtRoom Program™ rather than the mouse, you can. The purpose of this topic is to outline the speed keys which are available to you. Buttons There are three kinds of buttons in The CourtRoom Program™. The first kind is what we refer to as a 'lookup button'. This button always appears at the very end of a field. When your cursor is in a field which has a lookup button at the end of it, activate the button by holding down the <Ctrl> and <Enter> keys at the same time. The second kind of button can appear anywhere on the screen and has a word (or words) on it. There will be an underlined letter in one of those words. To activate the button, hold down the <Ctrl> key while simultaneously touching the letter on your keyboard which corresponds to the letter that is underlined on the button. The third kind of button can appear anywhere on the screen and only has a number on it. To activate the button, touch the corresponding number on your keyboard. Return to indexCase Information Screen
Return to index Main Menu Items Activate the main menu by touching the <Alt> key on your keyboard. Notice that one letter of each main menu item is now underlined. To access a main menu item, hold down the <Alt> key and touch the letter on your keyboard which corresponds to the letter that is underlined in that item.
Return to index Sub Menu Items After selecting a main menu item (see above), notice that one letter of most sub-menu items is now underlined. Access a sub-menu item by touching the letter on your keyboard which corresponds to the letter that is underlined in that item. When two sub-menu items are identified by the same underlined letter, keep touching the corresponding underlined letter on your keyboard until the item you want to access is highlighted and then touch <Enter>. If a sub menu item does not have an underlined letter, use your up/down arrow keys to highlight the sub menu item and touch <Enter>. Or, touch the first letter of the first word of the item you want to access on your keyboard.
Return to index Tabbed Screens Many functions in The CourtRoom Program™ contain multiple tabbed screens. For example, within the Add New VTL Case function, there are three tabbed screens: Name, Charges and Notes. To move between the tabbed screens of a function, hold down the <Ctrl> key on your keyboard and then touch the <Tab> key. Return to index Exiting Screens When you are finished using a function or are done looking at a screen, touch the <Esc> key on your keyboard to exit/close the function/screen. Return to index Multiple Charges When a case has multiple charges, the process for accessing those charges on your keyboard differs by function. Add New Case
